Txomin TOYOS

Txomin Toyos, whose family comes from Ciboure, was born in 1977 in Ceret. As a picture hunter, he believes to come from every single place he has visited.

 He was Jean Lemaître's student in Toulouse, before his quest of visual arts made him pursue his artistic studies in foreign countries, and exhibit his work in Barcelone, and Buenos Aires.

As an eclectic artist, Txomin Toyos explored various techniques like drawing, oil or watercolor painting on paper or on canvas. His themes come from the interaction between people and places that invite him to sit for a while, to interpret and represent his own view, an expanded view of the reality. His finality is not an idea, a concept or even a copy, it deals with the capture of a moment, of a landscape in vivid colors and hidden shadows; then the paintbrush defines his place from the appearance of what is observable.

His desire to define and redefine shapes, to make us feel the volumes from the surfaces, filter through the alternation between showing and suggesting. The artist invites us to a shared walk: then the artwork's rhythm unveils in the exchange of both the viewer's and the painter's looks.
