Patxi ARANOABorn in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1960, Patxi Aranoa was introduced to painting by his grand-father, the painter Juan de Aranoa (Bilbao) and by his own father, Juan José Aranoa, painter and architect. In 1978, he settled with his family in Pamplona in Navarra and took painting courses with Isabel Baquedano, Juan José Aquerreta and Salvador Beunza. Patxi Aranoa is himself, presently, a painting teacher at the workshop Aranoa in the Casco Viejo in Pamplona.
Describing himself and his work, he says that the "others" make him an artist, and that inspiration and energy come to him from the necessary exchange that aesthetics alone cannot express… An underlying life, at the same time silent and sensually discernable, emanates from the anonymous human figures, refined in their intimacy, just like poetic ballads…
